End of a busy day. Undergraduates from Duke and other universities worldwide who are studying tropical biology take a sunset pause at a lookout near the Palo Verde Biological Station of the Organization for Tropical Studies in Costa Rica. OTS -- a Duke-based consortium of 65 universities and research institutions -- provides research and education in tropical biology and ecology, and fosters policy initiatives in tropical conservation. This is the first in a series of "Postcards from Costa Rica" commemorating the organization's 40th anniversary. A full-length article on how its researchers and policymakers are helping to conserve tropical forests will appear in an upcoming issue of Duke Magazine.
