The Strawberry Poison Dart Frog
It is so-named because it provides toxin for darts and arrows used in hunting, is the most-studied and photographed of tropical amphibians because of its diurnal habits, bright color, high population density and unusual reproductive biology.

"Postcards from Costa Rica" commemorates the Organization for Tropical Studies 40th anniversary. A full-length article on how its researchers and policymakers are helping to conserve tropical forests will appear in an upcoming issue of Duke Magazine.
