Ant on leaf
A single ant makes his way across a plant leaf at the Las Cruces Biological Station of the Organization for Tropical Studies.

But he is far from alone. The three biological stations of the OTS boast hundreds of ant species. For example, more than 600 species have been identified at the La Selva Biological Station, where the "Arthropods of La Selva" project is revealing a stunning wealth of biological diversity.

"Postcards from Costa Rica" commemorates the organization's 40th anniversary. A full-length article on how its researchers and policymakers are helping to conserve tropical forests will appear in an upcoming issue of Duke Magazine.
