Learn how to bring more comfort and value to your home while also making it less of a strain on your finances and the planet.

Duke Carbon Offsets Initiative is teaming with Home Energy NC to offer a free Home Energy Efficiency Training workshop from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. April 30 in Room 148 of the Student Wellness Center. The event is open to Duke staff, faculty and students who rent and own homes. A light lunch will be provided.

The event will feature strategies for determining realistic energy goals and helpful first steps. It will also provide information on simple everyday steps that can be taken to save energy, and advice on how to tackle both do-it-yourself projects and ones that may require the help of a contractor.

“There are some big things you can do to make your home more energy efficient, and those are options that we want to present to people, but those aren’t the only options we are presenting,” said Matthew Arsenault, program manager with Duke Carbon Offsets Initiative. “We want folks to have the whole gamut of options, from stuff they can do themselves in an hour, all the way to stuff that they may need to hire a contractor for. We want them to know all of the options available, so they can make the best choice for themselves and their home.”
