Step into Spring 2025 with the Duke Run/Walk Club
Registration is open for the spring session, which begins March 10

“I was almost obsessed with it,” Hendry said. “I put down that I walked three days a week, but I continue to walk seven days a week.”

Support and coaching is offered by LIVE FOR LIFE to anyone who wants to walk, run or do a combination of both in twice-weekly meetings each Monday and Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Beginner to intermediate-level walkers train at East Campus, while all running levels and advanced walkers meet at the Al Buehler Trail on West Campus.
East Campus walkers should note that a segment of the East Campus Loop trail along Broad Street is closed for a construction project through May. A detour redirects users around the construction.
“This is about building community and meeting other people outside of your usual department,” said LIVE FOR LIFE Fitness Specialist Julia Phu. “It’s something that can hold people accountable and motivate them to get out.”
Hendry said she’s eager to join group training once the women’s basketball season ends.
“That’s my next goal – as soon as the season’s over to jump right in and be able to meet some people,” Hendry said.
For now, she continues the habit she started during last year’s Run/Walk Club, walking a 4-mile route daily from Cameron Indoor Stadium to Sarah P. Duke Gardens and back.
“It gave me such self-fulfillment to be able to check those boxes off and said ‘Yes, I did it this week and I was good to myself,’” Hendry said. “It totally makes my day.”
