Forbes Names Duke Among ‘America’s Best Employers’ for 2022
University ranks 61st, Health System is 74th in ranking by Forbes
Duke University and Duke University Health System are among “America’s Best Employers” in 2022, according to Forbes.
In a survey of 60,000 U.S. employees, Duke University placed 61st, and Duke University Health System was 74th on a list of 500 employers with more than 5,000 employees.
“It’s always validating that the work of our faculty and staff in building a supportive and engaging community is on the right path.” said Kyle Cavanaugh, Duke’s vice president for Administration. “To me, having this recognition, which cuts across the entire country and across many different industries, bodes incredibly well for our workforce. When, across the nation, there are enormous challenges, it’s gratifying to see the institution continue to be recognized.”
Duke University was ranked eighth among 35 employers in education. Duke University Health System placed 17th out of 35 employers in the healthcare and social category.
Forbes partnered with statistical research firm Statista for the survey, which asked employees from 25 industries questions about topics such as working conditions, salary, potential for development, diversity and company image. Participants were also asked to rate their willingness to recommend their employer to friends and family and evaluated other employers in their industry that stood out either positively or negatively.
The online survey sampled employees working for companies that employ at least 1,000 people in the U.S. All U.S. companies were eligible for the recognition.
Last year, Duke University and Duke University Health System were named as ‘Best Employers’ by Forbes. In 2021, Duke University and Duke University Health System were also recognized on the ‘Best Employers for Women’ list by Forbes.
