Duke Message to Individuals Affected by Immigration Executive Orders

The following message was sent to Duke students, faculty and staff who might be affected by the Executive Order issued on Friday limiting immigration from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen:

“As you are aware, the White House issued an Executive Order yesterday related to individuals immigrating to the U.S. from specific countries.  Given your current visa status, we wanted to reach out to you as quickly as possible.

“With the unclear text of the Executive Order and out of an abundance of caution, we strongly recommend that foreign nationals from the affected countries avoid all international travel for the immediate future.  At this point, we do not anticipate that those individuals with existing lawful status will be impacted by the executive order.

“We are closely monitoring this situation and will update you accordingly.”
