Dr. Kafui Dzirasa Discusses the Next Big Idea in Brain Research
Duke psychiatrist and neuroscientist appears at White House Frontiers Conference
School of Medicine Professor Kafui Dzirasa joined President Barack Obama on a panel discussion Thursday at the White House Frontiers Conference in Pittsburgh.
Dzirasa, Harvard Professor Atul Gawande, patient advocate and cellist Zoe Keating and scientist Riccardo Sabatini shared ideas about the future of medicine and health care innovation. Dzirasa is also a Duke alumnus, earning his Ph.D. in 2007 and his M.D. in 2009.
Above, Dzirasa provides a short tutorial on the workings of the brain and how the next steps in research will require a bold engineering approach. The full conference is available for viewing here.
