Starting Aug. 6, GoDurham will run Route 20, a new bus route between Hope Valley Commons and West Campus, during peak commute times. Service will occur every 30 minutes between 6:20 and 9:48 a.m. and 3:06 and 7:10 p.m., Monday through Friday.

It will have six stops at Duke, including:

  • NC751 at Science Dr
  • LaSalle Street
  • Research Drive
  • Duke/VA hospitals
  • Duke Clinic
  • Sarah P. Duke Gardens

The route was selected after customer feedback and analysis of where unimplemented service was needed. A full listing of stops, schedules and a route map can be found on the GoDurham website.

GoDurham officials said buses will stop at University Drive and Westgate Drive, but the Park-and-Ride lot will not be open starting Aug. 7. Officials do not have a set date for the lot to be complete, but riders can track updates at GoDurhamTransit.org..

Route Changes

Also in August, GoTriangle will reduce the number of stops along Route 400 during off-peak times in order to improve travel time between downtown Chapel Hill and downtown Durham.  As a result of the faster off-peak travel times, Route 400 service frequency will increase to every 30 minutes, Monday through Saturday, until 7 p.m.  In addition, Route 405 will provide direct peak-hour service to and from Carrboro, via Jones Ferry Road and Main Street.

Passengers who board along SW Durham Drive, University Drive and Westgate Drive should note that stops along these streets will only be served by Route 400 during peak commuter hours of 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 3:45 to 6:45 p.m. Monday to Friday. These areas will continue to be served by GoDurham Route 10/10A, though using that route will require a transfer at Durham Station for any customers coming from the Duke University area.

The free park and ride lot at Patterson Place shopping center on 15-501 will be served at all times by the Route 400.

A detailed map of Route 400 can be found here.

DRX passengers should also note slight schedule changes to that route, effective Aug. 7.
