Welcome to the Week at Duke in 60 Seconds.

This coming week, Duke will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a variety of activities, including a keynote address from North Carolina NAACP president Reverend William Barber on Sunday.

Duke Dining is switching to unbleached napkins made from 100 percent recycled materials. The move, part of a larger sustainability strategy, comes on the heels of a ban last year on Styrofoam.

This past Monday, Duke Chapel held a service of remembrance to mark the five-year anniversary of the massive Haiti earthquake. The service included a moment of silence at 4:53, the time the earthquake struck.

Finally, a new space in Bostock Library called The Edge had its grand opening celebration on Wednesday. The new research and project space features a lounge with rolling furniture for collaboration and a hallway wallpapered in whiteboard material. Go ahead: Write on the walls!
