When Duke awards degrees to more than 5,100 undergraduate, graduate and professional school students on Sunday, May 11, the Duke Alumni Association will be celebrating.

New graduates will automatically become members of the Duke Alumi Association, which represents the more than 150,000 Duke alumni around the world. DAA will host an event with food and giveaways on the Bryan Center Plaza from noon-4 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, to welcome new grads and distribute their Duke Alumni Association cards. 

As DAA members, alumni have access to signature on-campus events such as Homecoming and Reunions; a global network of regional DAA alumni chapterseducational and travel opportunitites that bring together Duke alumni around the world; career services and networking; communications such as Duke Today Alumni, social media and the award-winning Duke Magazine; and volunteer opportunities through programs such as Duke Alums Engage

In addition to these programs, the DAA works with partners to create special offers and discounts available to alumni only. With their DAA cards, alumni can take advantage of perks such as:

  • Five free visits to Wilson, Card or Brodie gyms
  • 20 percent discount once a year on regularly priced clothing and gifts at Duke Stores in the Bryan Center
  • 20 percent discount once a year at the Gothic Bookshop
  • Free admission to the Nasher Museum (Offer does not include select ticketed exhibitions)
  • Free parking on campus in select gated lots on weekends and after 5 p.m. on weekdays
  • Full privleges in the Perkins Library system and Divinity School Library. PLUS: Access to EBSCO Academic Search Alumni Edition, JSTOR, and ProQuest ABI/Inform Complete (Note: Alumni do not have access to library e-books at this time)
  • Membership to the Cornell Club of New York through a special Duke Alumni Association partnership 
  • Discounted insurance plans (short-term health, renewable major medical, Medicare supplemental and group term life through American Insurance Administrators and home, auto and renter's insurance through Liberty Mutual)
