Charity Events Impact Traffic, Parking on Saturday

A 5K and walk take place during the morning

Parking and traffic around portions of Duke's campuses will be impacted this weekend as part of charity events.

From 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, the GC, DN and H lots will be open for public use as part of the Angels Among Us 5K race. Race organizers will arrive early, but participants are expected to begin arriving around 7 a.m. for the 8 a.m. race.

As runners make their way through the course, some roadways may be temporarily blocked for traffic. Runners will start and finish near Trent Hall and travel along Campus and Flowers drives on campus. A full map of the course can be found on the Angels Among Us website.

The 5K race is expected to finish by 9:50 a.m. and a 3K family walk will take place at Sarah P. Duke Gardens starting at 10:50 a.m.

In addition to Angels Among Us, another event will take place on East Campus. The Triangle Walk Now for Autism Speaks will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. with parking made available at Smith Warehouse for volunteers and participants. Parking and Transportation Services will also staff those lots from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be no road closures for the Autism Speaks event.
