Faculty and staff get half off joining fee in January

Through the end of January, Duke faculty and staff receive 50 percent off the center’s initiation fee of $75 as well as 10 percent off personal training and massage packages if purchased within 60 days of joining.

The Health and Fitness Center, which has two locations in Durham on Hillandale Road and Erwin Road, offers a discounted monthly membership for employees at $50 a month for a “basic” membership and $55 for “premium.” Premium membership includes one-on-one work with a lifestyle counselor to determine wellness baselines, a fitness consultation and more. Both memberships include:

  • Use of the facility and equipment
  • Indoor pool
  • Indoor and outdoor tracks
  • Whirlpool and sauna
  • Locker rooms and lockers (includes towels)
  • Unlimited group exercise classes
  • Member events

Additional discounted memberships specific to afternoon or night and weekend use are also available through the Duke Fitness Club, a discount membership program offered to Duke employees.

For those who aren’t ready for a full commitment, employees can receive a free guest pass for one week of use at the Health and Fitness Center facilities. To receive the discount or receive a free weekly pass, faculty and staff must show a valid DukeCard ID.
