On Monday, more than 30 graduate and professional students received training on how to write an effective opinion article. During the workshop, the students began working on op-eds on topics ranging from water rights, elephant poaching and federal reserve policy to gun control and the Grammy Awards. The workshop was led by David Jarmul and Keith Lawrence of Duke's Office of News and Communications (ONC), and was organized by the Duke Graduate School. ONC held a separate workshop for graduate students last week about how to work effectively with the media, including how to prepare for and conduct an interview.
