President Brodhead spoke Tuesday afternoon at a reception honoring Duke students who are studying Haitian Creole, Chinese, Russian, Portuguese and diverse other foreign languages. The students have received fellowships from the Foreign Language and Area Studies Program, a federally supported effort that encourages language training among graduate students and a select number of undergraduates. Brodhead was the featured speaker at the reception at the Old Trinity Room.
