Memorial Service for Alexander Ney on Monday

Duke Chapel service will remember graduate student

A public memorial service for graduate student Alexander Ney, who died last week, will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, April 21, in Duke Chapel. The Duke community is invited to join the service.

A reception, sponsored by the Graduate School, will follow in the Alumni Memorial Commons Room, 152 Langford Building.

Ney, a third-year graduate student in molecular cancer biology, was well along in his doctoral program, had already passed his preliminary examinations, and was doing research in the lab of Professor Donald McDonnell.

He was also an Iraq war veteran and had been honored with the Bronze Star for saving the lives of soldiers under his command. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
