Against the backdrop of the newly named George and George-Frank Wall Center for Student Life, the Class of 2028 gathered Friday night for the traditional class photo. And it was a literal blast with confetti shooting out as part of the celebration.
The more than 1,700 new students, all wearing white Duke t-shirts, enjoyed the unusually cool August evening to continue a practice that began in 1997.
Speakers from the undergraduate schools and student affairs hyped up the students before the shoot. They included Mary Pat McMahon and Debbie Heida of student affairs, Deb Reisinger, Trinity College dean of undergraduate education, and Pratt School Dean Jerome Lynch. The Blue Devil mascot also led cheers.
