The Class of 2027 Takes Its Picture
On a toasty Friday evening, first-year undergraduate students gathered for what has become one of Duke’s most popular traditions: the class photo on East Campus. This marked the event’s 18th year, organized by the Office of University Communications and Marketing and the Office of Student Affairs.
Donning white Duke t-shirts, the students filled out their class number while the Duke marching band performed “Devil With the Blue Dress On” and other songs that the students will soon be cheering to at athletic events. Vice Provost Candis Watts Smith and Associate Vice Provost John Blackshear of the Office of Undergraduate Education spoke from a raised platform, guiding the students through the students.
The event, which was followed by a carnival on the East Campus Quad, was one of the last times class members will get together until their graduation together in 2027.
