Heavy Traffic Expected for Duke-UNC Home Football Game
Blue Devils welcome UNC-Chapel Hill to Wallace Wade Stadium on Oct. 15
With a large crowd expected for Duke’s home football showdown with the North Carolina Tar Heels, there will be traffic congestion and some restricted access on roads around West Campus the afternoon and evening of Saturday, Oct. 15.
The Blue Devils (4-2) welcome the Tar Heels (5-1) to Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium for a rivalry game that kicks off at 8 p.m. The showdown is expected to draw between 29,000 to 32,000 fans with a high-energy atmosphere. Gates open at 6 p.m., at which time fans can take advantage of concourse concessions and the Jr. Blue Devils Skills Challenge.
Expect heavy traffic on and around campus roadways after 3 p.m. There will also be a handful of traffic changes in place from 3 p.m. until after the game.
- Towerview Road will be closed to through traffic.
- Duke University Road will be closed to through traffic between Anderson Street and NC 751.
- Drivers will be unable to make left turns from Erwin Road onto Research Drive. They will instead need to proceed to LaSalle Street in order to turn left.
