Search Committee for New Graduate School Dean Named

Provost Sally Kornbluth has appointed a committee to conduct the national search for Duke University’s next dean of The Graduate School and vice provost for graduate education, succeeding Paula D. McClain, who will step down from that role later this year.

The search committee will be chaired by Craig Henriquez, professor of biomedical engineering. Other members of the committee are:

  • Sherilynn Black, Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement
  • Jared Clemons, Ph.D. student, Political Science
  • Grainne Fitzsimons, George C. Lamb, Jr. University Distinguished Professor of Business Administration
  • Aaron Franklin, Addy Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Esther Gabara, Associate Professor of Romance Studies
  • Kerry Haynie, Professor of Political Science
  • Gaby Katul, Theodore S. Coile Distinguished Professor of Hydrology and Micrometeorology
  • Thomas Pfau, Alice Mary Baldwin Distinguished Professor of English
  • Gabriel Rosenberg, Associate Professor of Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies
  • Beth Sullivan, Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology
  • Ron Temple ’90, Chair of The Graduate School Board of Visitors

Hallie Knuffman, chief of staff to the provost, will staff the search.  Executive search firm Spencer Stuart will assist the committee.
