Dear Members of the Class of 2021,

We are looking forward to hosting an in-person commencement celebrating your accomplishments on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 9-11 a.m. at Wallace Wade Stadium.

As I mentioned in my last update, all undergraduate seniors and undergraduates who completed the requirements for their studies in the fall or winter of 2020 are invited to participate in the in-person commencement ceremony. Remote and recently graduated members of the Class of 2021 must register here by April 15 in order to participate.

I am now pleased to report that each graduate will be able to bring up to two guests to the ceremony in Wallace Wade Stadium. Guests must be ticketed, and information about ordering tickets will be provided in the coming days. Information will also be posted at commencement.duke.edu, and the event will be livestreamed for guests unable to attend in person.

Some important notes: first, Duke will require all attendees to wear masks and follow social distancing measures.  All students and guests will be expected to observe Duke Compact guidelines, and access to campus will be limited to the official commencement exercises or any required interaction with student health. Please note that regalia must be ordered by April 12. Click here for more information.

Finally, we strongly encourage all students and guests to get vaccinated in advance of Commencement.  All Duke students are eligible to get the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine on campus, and even those who are only able to get the first dose of a two-shot vaccine will significantly lower the risk to themselves and those around them.

I hope that this comes as welcome news to you and your family and friends. We are looking forward to celebrating the Class of 2021 in May!

Cheers,
Vince
