Vice President for Finance and Treasurer Tim Walsh to Leave Duke

Dear Colleagues,

I want to share with you the news that Tim Walsh, Vice President for Finance and Treasurer, will be leaving Duke on October 1 to join Huron Consulting as a Managing Director in their higher education practice.  This is a homecoming of sorts for Tim, who spent many years at Huron before coming to Duke in 2004.

Tim has been an invaluable asset to Duke, a wise leader and a strategic advisor to many of us. He has worked effectively with trustees, faculty, students and alumni to help secure, grow and manage Duke’s resources.  No one has had greater influence on our financial affairs and well-being.  I am sorry to see him leave and wish him well in this new opportunity.

We are fortunate that Tim has assembled an outstanding team of leaders who are now well-positioned to carry our financial programs forward. With the concurrence of EVP-elect Daniel Ennis, I am pleased to appoint Rachel Satterfield as interim VP for Finance and Tori Nevois as interim Treasurer, subject to Board of Trustees approval.  Rachel and Tori are experienced financial executives who can continue the important and challenging work ahead without interruption.  In addition, Tim will be available to us as a consultant throughout the transition period.

Please join me in thanking Tim for his service to Duke, and Rachel and Tori for their willingness to assume additional responsibilities during this period of transition.
