Phillip Buchanan has been a member of the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club’s Executive Club for five years. The membership, which provides discounts on meals and events, helps him entertain donors and colleagues in his role as senior philanthropic counsel of Duke University.

But with Buchanan and wife, Katharine Buchanan, Duke Law School Associate Dean for Alumni & Development, not living too far from Inn, which sits just off West Campus, the couple also enjoys using the discounts on the occasional dinner out.

“I love the steak frites and the Caesar salad,” Phillip Buchanan said. “The shrimp and corn chowder is great in the winter. There isn’t much I don’t love.”

Employees can purchase a new classic membership for $284 instead of the regular $379. A new “Platinum” membership, which features a wider array of benefits, is $924 instead of $1,074.

“We only offer this discount once a year, so if you’re thinking about joining, this is the best time to do it,” said Danielle Kaspar, director of Community Relations and Executive Club for the Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club.

Executive Club members receive unlimited dining discounts for as much as 50 percent for meals, including Saturday and Sunday brunch, at the Vista Restaurant, the Bull Durham Bar and the AAA Four Diamond-rated Fairview Dining Room.

Classic members also receive two complimentary guest nights and a complimentary private room rental for up to 30 guests with minimum food purchase. Also included is a discount voucher for a large party and one complimentary Saturday brunch for two.

“I highly recommend it,” Phillip Buchanan said. “The savings we receive over the course of a year certainly outweighs the cost.”
