Duke Monitoring Impact of Downtown Explosion

The explosion appears to have occurred at the building located at 115 N. Duke Street. Traffic is blocked on Duke St. from Chapel Hill Road to Morgan Street. People should avoid the area. 

Duke Hospital is preparing to triage those impacted by the explosion, so traffic along ED Drive is limited to emergency vehicles only.

An explosion was reported at a downtown building near N. Duke Street and W. Main St. in downtown Durham. 

Emergency crews are responding now. Duke officials are working directly with Durham officials. At this time, officials do not believe the explosion occured at a Duke building.  

Traffic along Duke and Morgan streets is blocked. People are urged to avoid the area.
