Durham police are investigating a fatal pedestrian train crash
A train accident on Thursday morning has closed the intersection of Swift Avenue and West Pettigrew Street near East Campus in Durham.
Durham Police are currently investigating a fatal train crash that killed one pedestrian. Police said they are unsure when the road will reopen.
At this point, the victim is not known to be Duke-affiliated.
Drivers should avoid the area by taking Buchanan Boulevard.
Duke buses have been re-routed. The Swift Express is delayed because of traffic from the accident. For immediate service, board the C1 bus at the corner of Swift Avenue and Campus Drive. C2 and C3 buses are bypassing Swift Avenue. The Duke community can board and disembark the buses at the corner of Swift Avenue and Campus Drive.
