Said@Duke: Author Roy Scranton on the Politics of Climate Change

Roy Scranton: Not enough attention is given to the connection between climate change and the rise of political authoritarianism.

Indian novelist Amitav Ghosh and American writer Roy Scranton were the guest speakers at an event held on Nov. 5 called “Denatured Planet, Deranged Worlds: Imagining the Anthropocene.” The authors spoke about our failure of imagination in the face of climate change. They were joined by Duke Law professor Jedidiah Purdy, and the talk was moderated by Ranjana Khanna, professor of English, Women's Studies, and the Literature Program. The event was sponsored by the Duke Office of Global Affairs.
