History Department Formally Requests Building Name Change

Request being evaluated according to the process adopted in 2017

Part of the Memory and History at Duke Series

The Department of History has submitted a formal request to change the name of the Carr Building on Duke’s East Campus.

That request is now being evaluated according to the process adopted in 2017.  Following an initial review by the university leadership and the Executive Committee of the Academic Council, President Vincent E. Price will appoint an ad hoc committee to conduct a thorough review of the issue and propose a course of action.

President Price will ask that committee to conclude its work by the end of the fall semester in order to prepare a recommendation to the Board of Trustees, which has final responsibility for the naming of campus buildings.
