A funeral service will be held for former Duke University Vice President Phail Wynn on Monday, July 30 at 11 a.m. in Duke Chapel.
The service, which is open to all members of the Duke community and the public, is expected to generate significant traffic on campus on Monday. Duke faculty, staff, and guests are directed to park in the Chemistry Lot or Science Dr. Parking Garage. Parking attendants will be available to assist, and shuttles will transport people to and from the Science Dr. Garage beginning at 9:30 a.m. Monday. The Chapel doors will open at 10 a.m. for the funeral.
Accessible parking and drop off will be available from the Bryan Center Parking Lot located behind Duke Chapel and near the accessible entrance to the Chapel. Parking in front of Duke Chapel will be reserved for immediate family members.
If Duke Chapel reaches capacity, overflow seating will be available in Griffith Theater in the lower level of the Bryan Center. The service will also be streamed live online for those unable to attend.
Wynn retired last month after 10 years of service as Duke’s first vice president for Durham and Regional Affairs. Previously he served 30 years as the president of Durham Technical Community College. Wynn died on Tuesday, July 24, at his home. He was 70.
