Women's Basketball Player Uses Fashion Skills for Duke's Kay Yow Cancer Fund Game

Erin Mathias is currently designing and making an outfit for Duke women’s basketball head coach Joanne P. McCallie to wear for the Feb. 19 Blue Devil game against Florida State in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The game will be Duke’s annual “Play for Kay” game that will raise funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The plan is to have the outfit, which will include some pink, auctioned after the game to also raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

The game will be aired live on ESPN2. 

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mathias is a visual arts and media studies major along with obtaining with an innovation and entrepreneurship certificate.  She held a fashion show in September in front of the Duke Chapel to debut her Erin Mathias Designs clothing line.

Mathias has started all 26 games this season as a consistent post player, after coming off the bench her first three years with Duke.
