The Office of Global Affairs is excited to introduce the newest member of the Duke Global team, Namrata Jha. Based in Bangalore, Jha will help coordinate Duke’s many research, learning and engagement opportunities in India and throughout the region.
As of May 2017, Jha is available to support faculty, students and staff on the ground, including facilitating in-country meetings with faculty research partners. Duke faculty and staff members interested in developing new partnerships and educational activities in the region can also consult Jha for guidance, as well as for assistance connecting with local academic institutions, governments, business and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
“This is such an exciting and fulfilling time to engage in educational partnerships across borders,” Jha said. “I am passionate about working toward the advancement of global higher education, and I look forward to working with individuals at Duke to build on their great work in the region.”
Duke’s work in South and Southeast Asia currently includes 16 partnerships, hundreds of faculty research projects and dozens of student internship and study away programs. The region is also home to more than 1,500 Duke alumni. New ventures may include long-distance teaching opportunities, short-term fieldwork experiences and joint conferences.
Jha previously established and directed the Institute of International Education’s New Delhi office, working closely with foundations, governments, universities and NGOs in India and in South Asia.
