Traffic Advisory: High School graduations on West Campus Tuesday and Wednesday

Part of Science Drive will only be open to buses and emergency vehicles at certain times

Traffic alert

High school graduations will lead to limited access for part of Science Drive on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Access to Science Drive from Cameron Boulevard will be restricted for busses and emergency vehicles from 7:30 a.m.-9 a.m., 10:30 a.m.-noon and 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Six Durham high schools are holding graduations at Cameron Indoor Stadium over the two days and guests will park in the Science Drive deck – which is accessible from Cameron Boulevard – and the Blue Zone.

Faculty, students and staff with parking permits will have regular access to West Campus lots and garages. However, they are encouraged to allow plenty of travel time and may want to consider using Duke busses to get around campus to avoid delays.

Navigation tips:

  • Visitors and community members needing to access Whitford Drive or the J.B. Duke Hotel can do so by turning onto Towerview Road from Erwin Drive and turning right onto Science Drive.
  • Motorists needing to access the Bryan Center Parking Garage can do so by turning onto Towerview Road from Erwin Drive and turning left on Science Drive.
  • Due to construction, Towerview Road is inaccessible from Duke University Road. Those needing to reach the Blue Zone or the Card Gym lot from Duke University Road must use Wannamaker Drive.
