): "America at a Crossroads: The 2016 Election" is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

Veteran political strategists Karl Rove and Jim Messina will discuss the upcoming presidential election Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Duke University.

"America at a Crossroads: The 2016 Election" is free and open to the public, but tickets are required and available from the Duke Box Office. Tickets will go on sale for Duke students, faculty and staff only at the Duke Box Office beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Tickets will then be opened to the general public beginning Oct. 14. Tickets are limited to two per person. For group reservations, contact Aly Breuer.

The talk takes place at 5 p.m. in Page Auditorium on Duke’s West Campus. Parking is available in the Bryan Center lot and garage.

With more than two decades of political experience, Rove is a Republican strategist who worked as deputy chief of staff and senior adviser to President George W. Bush. He’s also a Fox News contributor and a Wall Street Journal columnist.

Messina is a top Democratic strategist who worked as campaign manager and deputy chief of staff for President Barack Obama, helping him win a second term. Messina also was a senior strategic adviser for former UK Prime Minister David Cameron’s EU referendum campaign. He is national chair of Organizing for Action, which advocates for the Democratic Party agenda.

Political scientist Peter Feaver, director of the Duke Program in American Grand Strategy, will moderate the talk.

“By all accounts, this has been one of the most fascinating and unpredictable presidential elections in modern memory,” said Feaver, who worked as a national security adviser in the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations.

“We are fortunate to have in Rove and Messina, two of the sharpest political minds in the country, to help us make sense of what is happening and what is likely to happen. They each bring a different perspective to bear, but they share in common a deep reservoir of experience at the highest levels of American politics. This should be a most interesting conversation at a most interesting time."
