Duke in Pics: Star Wars Movie Night

Employees and their families watched “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” on East Campus

Epic battles descended upon the East Campus Lawn Friday between the dark side of the Force and the light.

About 100 Duke employees and their family members attended Duke Appreciation Movie Night to watch a free screening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Moviegoers received free glowing lightsabers and popcorn, and Jedi, Stormtrooper, Darth Vader and Kylo Ren characters were available for lightsaber battles and photos.

Angel Zeininger, a senior lecturing fellow in Duke’s Evolutionary Anthropology department, brought her 7-year-old son, Aiden Zeininger-Dick, to the movie. Zeininger said she enjoyed watching Star Wars while Aiden and other children played together on the lawn.

“I thought any chance to spend some time outside in the evening would be fun,” she said.
