Duke Awards Distinguished Professorships, Inducts New Bass Society Members

Srinivas Aravamudan

Duke University has awarded distinguished professorships to 21 members of its faculty. Another four were inducted into the Bass Society of Fellows for Excellence in Teaching and Research.

The professors were recognized at a May 4 dinner at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.

Among the recipients was the late Srinivas Aravamudan, the former dean of the humanities who became Arts and Sciences Professor of English earlier this year. Aravamudan died last month, and a tribute to him was held during the dinner.
