Union Files Petition to Organize Non-tenured Faculty

Petition excludes faculty in professional schools

Duke University received a petition from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) on Thursday, Feb. 11, seeking to represent non-tenure track faculty members, including Professors of the Practice, within the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, the Graduate School and the Center for Documentary Studies. The petition only includes non-tenured faculty in those specific units.

Provost Sally Kornbluth said that the administration is currently assessing the petition and will abide by the federal guidelines outlined by the National Labor Relations Board for responding to it.
