Welcome to the week at Duke in 60 seconds.

Vice President Joe Biden visited Duke this week as part of his tour to support cancer research. During his State of the Union address last month, President Obama tapped Biden to run the initiative.

On Monday, February 15, General Martin Dempsey and Denis McDonough will deliver a lecture on global leadership at Duke. Dempsey is the retired Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who now teaches at Duke and McDonough is the current White House Chief of Staff.

Duke historian William Chafe has released an updated edition of his book, “Hillary and Bill: The Clintons and the Politics of the Personal.” The book explores the intersection between the Clintons’ marriage and political careers.

Finally, data from a 20-year study of twins looks at how genetic and environmental factors shape children, and could help Duke researchers answer questions about mental health and social development.
