Chemistry in the Community

sciencestars

More than 300 community members watched Mentos and Diet Coke being mixed and Gummy Bears being destroyed during the Department of Chemistry's annual Science under the Stars Tuesday outside of the French Family Science Center.

The project is part of the department's Sharing Chemistry with the Community Project led by Kenneth Lyle.  The experiments provide visitors with basic principles of chemistry along with a lot of fun.

Other experiments included extracting the DNA of strawberries, nitrogen ice cream and the effect of light on changing the shape of things.
