Two vendors for Duke health benefits have changed their names, but coverage and services provided to Duke faculty and staff and their dependents remain the same.
The name changes involve the vendor that administers Duke's prescription drug program and the health plan administrator for Duke Select and Duke Basic insurance plans.
The following are details on the changes:
Medco Health Solutions, the company providing pharmacy benefits to all of Duke's health insurance plans, merged with Express Scripts several months ago. The combined company will be known as Express Scripts, but there will be no change to the prescription-drug benefit or home-delivery services. Beginning Sept. 1, 2012, "Express Scripts" will appear on most member communications. Employees can still access the consumer website at www.medco.com.
WellPath Select, Inc., the company that manages the Duke Select and Duke Basic insurance plans, is a subsidiary of Coventry Health Care. Coventry has chosen to use a single name across the country, "Coventry Health Care of the Carolinas, Inc." The name change will not affect Duke's benefits. New identification cards bearing the new name will be issued after Open Enrollment in October. The website (www.wellpathonline.com) now automatically directs to www.chccarolinas.com.
