Duke Performances' Piano Recital Series launches with Gilmore Award-winning pianist Ingrid Fliter on Friday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m. in Reynolds Theater in the Bryan Center.
An EMI recording artist and former student of Margaret Argerich, Fliter has released two all-Chopin discs, with her interpretation of the complete Chopin Waltzes. According to Gramophone Magazine, "Ingrid
Fliter sets a new benchmark for the complete waltzes. From beginning to end, this is among the finest Chopin recordings of recent years.”
Duke Performances' Piano Recital Series, now in its fourth year, consistently features world-class musicians performing the best of the classical repertoire. This year's season features, in addition to Ingrid Fliter, Andre Watts (Dec. 3), Simone Dinnerstein (Jan. 20), Garrick Ohlsson (Mar. 16), and closes with the extraordinary Richard Goode (Apr. 19).
Admission to the recital is $30 and $5 for Duke students.
