Fickling Named Director Of Disability Services
Leigh Fickling, Director, Duke Disability Management System
Leigh Davis Fickling has been named director of Duke's Disability Management System, effective immediately.
Fickling has served as interim director of the Duke Disability Management System since Director Mary Thomas left Duke in August to start a similar program at Harvard University.
Fickling holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the Charleston School of Law, a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University, West Virginia.
"I am pleased Leigh will continue working with Duke," said Kyle Cavanaugh, vice president for administration at Duke, who oversees Duke's Disability Management System. "She is clearly knowledgeable about the disability management discipline, is a solid manager and embraces Duke's Guiding Principles."
The Disability Management System provides leadership to Duke University and Duke University Health System efforts to ensure an accessible, hospitable working and learning environment for people with disabilities. It also ensures compliance with federal and state regulations. The department serves as a centralized clearinghouse on disability-related information, procedures and services for Duke faculty, staff and students.
