Traffic Advisory: Sunday's Ramblin' Rose Race

Several city streets to be blocked; Duke C-1, C-2 transit schedules adjusted

Motorists traveling around East and Central campuses this Sunday morning may need to plan alternative routes due to the Duke Medicine Ramblin' Rose Women's Half Marathon.

Areas along East Campus and on Campus Drive will be closed to vehicle traffic between 7:30 a.m. and about 10 a.m. to allow runners to pass freely on city streets. The race route near Duke's campuses will take participants along North Buchannan Boulevard and West Markham Avenue before running onto Campus Drive from East Campus southwest to Anderson Street. A full race map is available online.

On Sunday, several Duke transit buses will begin service later, due to the race. The  C-1 bus will start service at 10:15 a.m.; the C-2 abbreviated route will start service on East Campus at 10:15 a.m.; and the C-2 East-Central-West will start service on West at 10:15 a.m.

Once all runners have passed through these areas, Durham police will reopen streets for vehicle traffic. About 2,000 runners are expected to participate in the half marathon this weekend.

Registration is still open for the race, which will benefit the Duke Cancer Institute. Visit the Ramblin' Rose website for more information.
