North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue and Secretary of Commerce
Keith Crisco met with local officials and visited the future campus of Duke
Kunshan University Oct. 22 in Kunshan, China. Kunshan mayor Lu Jun and Vice
Mayor Jin Nai Bing hosted the delegation. (Pictured above, Gov. Perdue talks with Mayor Lu Jun.)
Representatives of several leading North Carolina companies
accompanied the governor and secretary to Kunshan as part of a North Carolina
trade mission to China and Japan.
"It was a tremendous honor to have the governor,
secretary of commerce, and executives from North Carolina visit Kunshan and
learn more about our plans and vision for DKU," said Blair Sheppard,
senior adviser for development, DKU and China, who welcomed the governor to
Kunshan. "Our hope is that
DKU will help increase and strengthen relationships between other institutions
in North Carolina and China."
