Ariel Dorfman: Feeding on Dreams

ariel620.jpg

Acclaimed writer and activist and Duke professor Ariel
Dorfman regaled more than 150 people with stories of watching changes both in
himself and in his Chilean homeland Wednesday afternoon in the Gothic Reading
Room.

Reading from his memoir "Feeding on Dreams: Confessions
of an Unrepentant Exile," Dorfman discussed the continuing legacy of the
military rule of Augusto Pinochet in Chile, the contradictory feelings we
encountered in his returns to the country and his struggles and successes as a
writer.

The lecture and question session was streamed live on Duke's
UStream channel, and the archive will be posted on Duke on Demand later Thursday. An
interview with Dorfman on WUNC's "The State of Things" on Monday can
be found
here.
