Brodhead to Kick Off Research Symposium

President Richard Brodhead will kick off the 2011 Symposium for Research Administration at Duke with a welcome message and opening comments.        The event, scheduled for May 11 in the Bryan Center, offers an on-site professional development opportunity for the 1,200 staff supporting research administration at Duke. 

Other notable speakers will include Tim Walsh, vice president for Finance, David Kennedy with the Council on Government Relations in Washington, D.C., Michael Merson, founding director for the Duke Global Health Institute, and Jim Luther, assistant vice president and research costing compliance officer for Duke. The theme for this year's symposium is "Continuous Improvement in a Time of Change." The day-long event features 15 different sessions on topics ranging from building research grant budgets to financial audits, to using reporting tools and financial management of clinical trials.
