Welcome to Duke Today "Working@Duke"
New website offers faculty and staff useful news for work, life at Duke
Welcome to the new "Working@Duke" section of Duke Today.
I should say, welcome to your Duke Today, because this redesigned site offers Duke staff and faculty new and enhanced ways to personalize news and contribute to conversations about happenings at Duke.
Read MoreDuke Today now collects more news from across the university and allows you to log in and customize topics and headlines you want to follow. On the "Working@Duke" section of Duke Today, we focus more on topics you've told us you are most interested in: benefits, services, employee features and arts and events on campus.
The "Working@Duke" section of Duke Today is part of the larger Duke Today site. Think of a news publication with different sections. The New York Times, for example, has a World section, a U.S. section, a Business section and so on. Similarly, Duke Today is now two sections: "News" for content about Duke's vibrant academic and research community, and "Working@Duke," the one-stop-shop for faculty and staff for news about benefits, services, programs and the people who work here. Geoffrey Mock is editor of the "News" section. Some stories may overlap both sections, and you'll find those featured in both sections. Please toggle back and forth and take it all in.
The "Working@Duke" edition also serves as a community commons, where you can start a conversation or join one through social networks such as Facebook or Twitter, or by posting a comment on a story.
There are lots of new opportunities to interact with the Duke community through the site, which was developed in collaboration with Duke Web Services. Engage with readers by submitting story ideas and professional news or submit photos to our Flickr photostream. You can also take a poll and find useful links to view your paycheck and complete transactions such as purchasing a ticket to a Duke event. Please watch our brief instructional video about customizing your news, as well as the site overview video on this page.
Beginning April 25, we will run "10 Days of Duke Today," a contest to help you learn more about the site and how to take advantage of its many features. Faculty and staff who successfully complete seven of 10 tasks are entered in a drawing for a new iPad2 - so you can have access to Duke Today anytime, anywhere.
Meanwhile, please tour the site and let us know what you think; click the green "feedback" button on the right of the screen. We look forward to providing you with useful and enjoyable content that helps you gain a better understanding of the benefits, services and issues that affect your work and life.Leanora MinaiEditor, Duke Today "Working@Duke"About Us
