Don't Go Phishing
Computer security officials warn employees that computer scams are getting more sophisticated
So-called "phishing" scams on the internet are becoming more and more sophisticated, according to Chris Cramer, information technology security officer in the Office of Information Technologies. He has issued a warning to the Duke community not to be taken in by the scams, which are e-mails with links to web sites that can closely resemble bank, credit card, online auction or other financial sites. The phishing web sites seek credit and other information that the scam artists can use to plunder bank accounts, charge credit cards and commit identity theft.
