Phi Beta Kappa Inducts 70 into Society
The Duke University Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa has initiated 70 undergraduates and recent graduates into the national scholastic honorary fraternity that fosters excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Members must be in the top 8 percent to 10 percent of their classes and are elected by Phi Beta Kappa faculty members.
Duke English professor and poet James W. Applewhite read a selection of his poems at the Dec. 7 ceremony.
