Fire Reported in Tel-Com Building

Durham Fire Department investigating cause

Update: 4 p.m. Monday, July 14

The fire that was reported in the Tel-Com Building is now out. Everyone in the building has been safely evacuated, and access to the building is now restricted. 

The Durham Fire Department is on site, and crews are working to clear the building of smoke. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A fire was reported in the Tel-Com Building on Duke's West Campus Monday afternoon.

The Durham Fire Department is currently on the scene investigating the incident. 

Smoke was visible from the roof of the building, said Kyle Cavanaugh, vice president for Administration and Duke's emergency coordinator, who was on the scene.
