The Fall That Was at Duke
Sights and sounds from the campus during a glorious season
Fall at Duke is more than beautiful colors. From the feel of the crunch of a pin oak under a foot to the roar of a crowd at a football game and the bells of the carillon playing a Halloween melody, the season has distinctive sounds and sights that make it for many the favorite time of year.
In an urban setting but home to gardens and forests, Duke's campus is home to both natural and manmade fall splendor. Here, Duke Today showcases a variety of audio, video and photographic depictions of some of the most enchanting moments of the past season.
The Campus on Display
There's something about walking on campus in the fall that had many members of the Duke community getting out their camera.
Throughout the season, these photos were some of the most shared images on Duke social media channels. For more images, go to the Duke Instagram site and see entries in our #Picture Duke fall photo contest and from our Fall photo walk.
Painted Pianos
As part of the Duke Arts Festival this fall, students wanted to know what would happen if they painted two pianos and placed them outside for all to see. What happened was a lot of beautiful music. For more from the Arts Festival, click here.
