Sloan Foundation Names Charbonneau, Lu as 2013 Research Fellows
The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation has named Patrick Charbonneau, an assistant professor of chemistry and physics, and Jianfeng Lu, an assistant professor of mathematics, as 2013 Sloan Research Fellows. The two-year award recognizes 126 researchers annually for their potential to make substantial contributions to their field.
Charbonneau studies the atomic interactions of glass, gels and other soft matter. Lu helps scientists in chemistry, materials science and biology develop mathematical descriptions of their observations. Charbonneau, Lu and the other 2013 winners will each receive $50,000 to use over their two-year fellowship period to support research and travel.
